Biography and comments about Valmai's work

Biography

Valmai Howe Elkins, the Academy's Director and author of Adventures of a Feng Shui Detective, early recognized the effect of environment on positive outcomes. Shortly after graduating as a physical therapist, she designed and implemented the first bedroom-style hospital birthing room in Canada. Her best seller, The Rights of the Pregnant Parent, based on that experience, inspired the setting up of a host of similar rooms throughout North America. After graduating with a Masters degree in Fine Arts from Bennington College, she turned to fiction writing. A strong sense of place and its effect on individuals pervades her novels, The Dreams of Zoo Animals and The Loneliness of Angels. Valmai is a skilled and entertaining presenter whether as a university lecturer or as a guest on the more than one hundred radio and TV shows on which she has appeared. Her latest book, Power Feng Shui, will be published in the Spring of 2001.

About Valmai Howe Elkins and her work

"Valmai Howe Elkins has a gift for educating, enlightening and caring which she exercises in her Feng Shui Consulting with the mastery of a sage. Working with her enlightens one's being and frees the environment of self-defeating energy." Paul Froncek, Architect

"Valmai and Feng Shui allowed me to achieve balance and harmony, find meaning in my life and realize my full potential. Just as she changed birthing by changing the environment in which birth takes place, she changes people by helping them change their environments. Before Feng Shui I felt powerless to help even myself, now I find I have the capacity to help others as well. Patricia Chang, Architect/realtor

"Thank you for orchestrating such a marvelous journey for my daughter and me. It's been rich with mystery and discovery and has had transformational effects on both our lives. Our process has been exhilarating, gratifying and rewarding." Lin Stranberg, Marketing Communications Consultant

"Your explanation of the ancient Chinese art of space in one's home reveals the mystical balance of architecture and interior design. Your presentations have attracted hundreds to our two-day fund raising event." Hal Lang, Director, Sedona Architecture & Art
