The
goals of the academyThe curriculum provides an opportunity to study the unique system of Power Feng Shui intensively with Valmai Howe Elkins, the Feng Shui Detective.
Over a six month period students acquire a solid understanding of the underlying principles of traditional Feng Shui and the dynamic approach offered by Power Feng Shui. You will learn to apply these principles in your personal life and to help others unblock old patterns and achieve their full creative potential.
Power Feng Shui begins with observation. Techniques to enhance your powers of observation are included in all phases of the program. Power Feng Shui builds on acute observation with the trained use of intuition. All phases of the program incorporate ways in which to develop your intuition and to trust what it tells you about your own life and those of others.
The curriculum takes place over six months and is divided into three parts. Part One consists of four days of classroom study, slide presentations, group discussion and field work. Part Two, done by correspondence provides the opportunity for you to try out your new skills and have the results reviewed by Valmai Howe Elkins. For Part Three, you return to the classroom for five days of intensive team case work, using a method developed exclusively by the Academy, combined with on-location assignments and, finally, discussion and individual review and assessment.
Part One: THE FOUNDATION
The adventure begins.
Using Santa Fe's New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts and the historic La Fonda Hotel as a base, students learn the underlying principles of Feng Shui. Discover how the "energy of place" or "Chi" affects those who live and work there; and develop a grounding in how the ancient use of "grids" or "Bagua" came to be applied to human activity. Extensive use of visual material shows how the techniques have been used effectively in a variety of cultures around the world.
In the introduction to Power Feng Shui, learn to see with "the eye of the detective." Exercises and group activities, unique to the Academy, sharpen your powers of observation and accelerate your access to the power of your own intuition. Acting as a laboratory in which to hone your new skills, an extensive examination of the Museum of Fine Arts and its collection of paintings and sculpture helps you understand how art, architecture, interior design and landscaping can best be combined to maximize human potential - and warns of the pitfalls that can cripple achievement.
Classroom and team work combined with field trips to four of Santa Fe's oldest buildings encourage you to use your new powers of observation and intuition to uncover the city's buried secrets.
The first portion of the course consists of 32 hours of workshops and field work. Upon completion, you will be ready to go home and begin using Power Feng Shui. Three "homework" assignments to be completed between Part One and Part Three are designed to build confidence in your own abilities.
Part Two: THE ASSIGNMENTS

In the six months between sessions, three assignments will be designed to meet your specific needs and will be monitored by correspondence with Valmai Howe Elkins.
Part Three: THE SYNTHESIS
Putting Power Feng Shui to work
Building on the base developed in Parts One and Two of the program, Part Three is designed to bolster confidence in your own skills and abilities to apply the techniques, observations and insights of Power Feng Shui to the real world.
A unique case-study method, developed by the Academy, allows you to work with your peers to "solve" a variety of real life Feng Shui challenges. Upon completion, each case is reviewed by Valmai Howe Elkins and by the group to determine whether the proposed solutions are effective and applicable.
Combined with further field work and ample opportunity to test your observational and analytical skills, these intense and exciting sessions show you how to look at the world around you from an entirely new perspective.
